Another Grandbaby

Jaycee Ione Grant was born September 14th at 1:35 am. She weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces and was 21 one inches long. She was born on her great great grandmothers birthday. She was only 36 weeks so we expected a much smaller baby, but were happy both mom and baby were healthy. We got to hold her right away and we even had to use 2 hands which was so awesome. She has so much thick black hair. Her middle name comes from her great grandmother Grant whom is so honored. I've decided that healthy babies come in the middle of the night and the tiny premies come during the day. That is the way it has worked in our family. So you get to sleep on lobby couches waiting for the healthy ones cuz you can go home and rest afterwards. The others come when you are up so you can prepare to take turns not getting any sleep. Glad to have number 5 here.

Long day yesterday. Maigan has the croupe again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leslie's dad was moved to a hospice home. Emmalise is sick now too. And Carlan is not improving. They are doing a scan of his heart this morning. More likely he just needs more time. I feel so torn of where I need to be. Should be working at 2 different businesses, need to take care of Q so Jodie and Chuck can be with Carlan. Other grandchildren sick, want to be at hospital. Leslie needs help with a shower she has scheduled this weekend. I need about 4 clones this week. As Elder Wirthlin said
"Come what may and love it" I'll try.

The end of a long, but good day. A few trips to the hospital to check on Carlan who seems to be okay but no big changes today. Jodie did get to hold him a couple of times, but the rest of us are patiently waiting for the chance to hug and kiss him. He is so adorable it is hard not to just scoop him. Went to amazing jakes with Q and E, Katrine, Stoney, Jaycen, Vaughn and I. Gave the kids a chance to play. Katrine and Stoney, Mike, Patrice and Laura all stopped in to see Jodie and Carlan. Spent some time at Tammy and Dannys, with Dane, Drew and Tamran also. Danny made fresh homemade bread. That was a nice treat. So back to Jaycen and Leslie's tonight. Vaughn made arrangements to have church covered tomorrow so he can stay. I am glad he is, I like having him around for support. And Tammy got him in to see a back doctor on Monday afternoon so he needs to stay for that.

Well we went to Mesa today for Jodie to have the baby. The doctor took her off her meds and as expected she was in labor before noon. When we arrived at Desert Banner Hospital, the baby had already been born. To our wonderful surprise we saw Stan and Norma Natividad as they were leaving the hospital. We have been following their incredible story of courage and they were there in complete truth of everything we had heard. Both were in good spirits and I thought Norma looked beautiful. Jodie had the baby at 4:18 minutes before we got to the hospital. We had Q so when she was finally in recovery we had to take turns goiing to see her. Chuck had gone upstairs with Carlan. Jodie only saw him for a few seconds as he was blue. We took Q up to the nursery and he got to see him through the window for a few minutes before they transfered him to the NICU. His lungs weren't completely developed so will just take time. They have him on some sort of cpap machine and steriods by iv along with antibiotics to help with the development. He has dark hair but other than that he looks just like Q. It was a tough day as we heard that Freeport is laying off about 2000 people and not sure how Gabe will be effected. Than we got word that Leslie's father who has been fighting cancer took a turn for the worse and appears his time is very short. Sometimes life seems so overwhelming, but there are so many blessings in all the trials and we will be able to see them one day I'm sure, just not today. But we are truly grateful for the safe arrival of Carlan and Jodie coming through the surgery in good health.

Not that our lives are that interesting but I thought it would be fun to keep track of some of the events in our families life. Today we are preparing for a new grandbaby. Chuck and Jodie Finlinson, our daughter are expecting their second child, a boy. Jodie has been on bed rest and anti-contraction medication since last November and the doctor gave her permission to go off of the medication at midnight tonight. Both her pregnancies have been complicated so this little boy will be their last. They are going to name him Carlan Xavier Finlinson, because Quentin, their 3 year old when they told him they were having a baby said his name was Carlan. Never heard it before, but they both liked it so it stuck. Xavier was their orginal choice and I think Jaycen will still call him X. We must not be too bright in our family because our grandchildren all go by letters instead of names. Quentin is Q, Emmalise is E, but Miss Maigan is just Miss Maigan. I think it is the texting age getting to us all. Jodie and Chuck moved back home with us in December so we could help out with Q while Jodie was down. So we are going to have a new baby at our house hopefully sometime this next week. Everyone is excited to have a new baby again as Miss Maigan is 19 months.
